This memo contains the results of an assessment of the Nuu Garden 3PCS Cast Aluminum Bistro set manual. From the front page of the manual, it is convenient to have the finished product in the front as it will help the readers understand how the product is supposed to look by the end of the guide. The following page contains the introduction and customer services contact information; unfortunately, there seem to be far too many words. The wordiness of this page could often result in the reader skipping it and missing important information. For example, the manual includes the customer service email and number in the middle of the introduction section. The customer service number and email are essential and should be bolded or placed where it is easy for the customer to find and know the information. Under the customer service, it is conducive that it contains the office hours so the customers can know when they open as sometimes when they seek help within customer service, they may call or email at the wrong time. Since this email is about two different sets, it is easy to know and understand that the next page is about the table. The pictures are accessible and easily understandable, and because there is spacing within each step, it helps the reader understand when the step has concluded, or instructions have ended. There is a second table under the table diagram, which is beneficial for readers as it lets them know which item is used in any given step and what item letter they are. It is also helpful that they label each of the four pictures so you can know which step goes to which, and it can also help those who are visual learners. Although there are many great things within the table assembly page, there are still some flaws that I would like to point out. For example, one should bold important information such as disclaimers that advise readers against tightening bolts before fully assembling the product. Lastly, the following page is the chair assembly, where there appears to be a bit more detail, but since there is no description of the chair, the page can become confusing for the readers who may not find the visuals to be clear enough. Since these visuals are smaller than the visuals used for the table, it will be harder to understand how to assemble the chair. The visuals can’t be enlarged to see the order in which the nuts and bolts must be added during assembly. There don’t seem to be labels defining the order of the steps in the manual, so it will be a little hard and confusing for the reader when assembling the chair. Finally, I wish both assemblies contained bigger fonts as those who are unable to or have trouble reading smaller fonts will inevitably find this manual challenging to understand. What is helpful is the inclusion of the company’s website in the case that a customer wants to visit the website and see the other products that the company has to offer. An aesthetically pleasing aspect of the manual is the background design since it is simple and elegant in the sense that it does not draw attention away from the instructions when one is reading the manual. Overall, this manual is not perfect and has some flaws as well as some positive aspects. I hope that taking in these assessments will help the author understand where they need to improve and what they are doing well, as the goal of a manual is to remain clear, concise, and thorough.
